Week 4 Las Vegas Prime Doc * SLS and other vantage points

Hi!  Greetings to my fellow LV Prime photographers and Bloggers! This week's blog is meant to say that I am enjoying the style and techniques of the LV Prime Doc class and that it is getting me out and about.
Bear with me as I learn to space the type in this blog. I do it quite nicely, then it gets changed radically as the pictures are added. Perhaps that will improve, or perhaps that will just be my quirky style, especially as I seem to do this at about 1:00a.m. I really am enjoying this photography style,  particularly my 40 mm lens. I understand the 50mm was Henri Cartier Bresson's favorite, and I can really appreciate his choice. Perhaps he started out with a 70-200 and just got tired out!! Or perhaps he did find the normal lens to be the exciting and wonderful tool of repute for reasons too many to count.    But, as the world and news about it certainly seems a bit dreary and depressing lately,  it has been nice to escape in wandering around new places with thissmall lens, which is forcing me to see in a new way and pay more attention to how I am framing my shots.   Not everything always works, but then it never does, does it?  Some of my favorite things are curves and shadows and interesting shapes- and usually my world is Utrillo-esque. But occasionally I will snap the odd person in the odd light beam and that is quite nice. All is a work in progress that I never otherwise would have undertaken. Looking at the above, it does rather stark and in need of moving people, things, or animals.  Perhaps, if even a train passed at the crossing... or if the odd child on a bicycle or playing with a hoop went by, it would be a nice opportunity-but I guess that is another time in another place.  At any rate, below you will see that I have left you with a light to guide you in your passing and journeys.  Note that the light took itself there.  I originally placed it above with the clock, as they were taken contemporaneously.  Be well and good luck with your shooting. clh
