Week 12 Las Vegas Prime Doc, 40 mm--, Some new experiments, just for fun!!

Hi, Everybody!  Well, this week, I tried a new look at the world- a little crazy, brand new, kind of raw, wanting refinement, and very fun. Sort of like standing on one's head and shooting away, then seeing what happened. I got colors, textures, results, and places from which to begin.  It was a reminder to me  that there are always new adventures ahead, and that sometimes things should just be experimental and fun--you can always stress and agonize later, erase, redo, throw out, reblend....

It's always interesting to get a test reaction to one's work- I guess I am getting used to it when I show someone a new piece that I particularly like and am met with deafening silence- probably to be interpreted as "what?! Have you finally completely lost your mind? " or, " seriously? I hate it, whatever it is! " But I am now convinced that I may truly be understood only after I am dead, so I am printing and labeling carefully to preserve my work for when I am discovered posthumously! An artist must have a strong ego.

I hope there is something here that you like, or do not hate,  or makes you smile, or take a second look.  I also hope you had fun this week with your own crazy endeavors. Together let's make a wild,  beautiful stew to leave behind for posterity.  Happy shooting! :-)

Week 11, Blog 12, Las Vegas Prime Document, 40mm, In the Evening

The sun is setting earlier and earlier, so evening art walks around the grand spaces on the Strip on the late afternoons are becoming more compact.  But nevertheless, I did find a few things that caught the light and the reflections, and led us to slow down and enjoy the quiet spaces around. Here's a sampling of what I caught on a quiet Saturday afternoon, on the way to fountain somewhere...

Wk 11 Las Vegas Prime Doc, Veterans Day Edition, 40 mm

It was a great day for a Parade-- about 80 degrees, clear, with a light breeze, everyone feeling, expectant and optimistic--waiting for the Parade.  Flags were everywhere! hanging from cranes, buildings, and fire engines, floating in the wind, catching in the sun.  There were motorcycles, fire engines,  lovely, sweet kids, babies in arms and strollers, Veterans sitting, standing, people lining the streets and passers by. Everyone was in the mood to celebrate--waiting for the Parade.  The Parade with its Veterans, formations of Veterans, young and old. Veterans riding motorcycles, in groups and alone, carrying the colors, honored on floats, in cars and jalopies, riding with the odd dignitary, being cheered where they stood, and  wherever they passed now-- One lone Veteran said thanks.  He said he didn't get a parade when he came back the first time. A Marines drank beer from a cup and ROTC cadets grinned and waved.  It was a red white and blue day, happy and sad, and on the side old Veterans sat, because they could no longer stand through it all, and watched as the other proud, straight Veterans passed by. The Veterans paraded on, and the bands played, and everyone said thank you for your service and cheered, and the sun was very bright, and a soft breeze blew.....

Week 10, Las Vegas Prime Document, 40 mm

Hi friends! In, out and about this week I found things to be discovered, faces to be seen, tender moments otherwise unnoticed,  remnants of times past and future hopes with the wind blowing through, and perhaps some puzzles to be solved. I tried to get a little better at focusing from the hip, shoulder etc.  with hopefully some success and definitely with erased memory cards. The people shots are still wonderful and uncomfortable; and it is always interesting to see who is bothered  by the shots, who doesn't notice,  who doesn't care, and who will give you the great smile that makes your day, and of course, who objects!  When the people shots work, they are  lovely as a promise. All in all it was a good week. I would like to see some of the images on textured paper, so I guess that's an  upcoming project.   I hope you also had a good week. Be well.

Week 9 Las Vegas Prime Document

This Week was rather a combination week of enjoying preparations leading up to Halloween, with those enjoying the preliminaries, and some of those clearly getting into the spirit and perhaps practicing for the night itself--of perhaps their have a little bit of Halloween going on all year long. And then afterward, a cuppa something warm with light experiments dancing.   At any rate, hope your experiments are going well, and hope the goblins dont't get ya... Good shooting.
